What is an Endowment? 

An endowment is any bequest or gift that provides an income for an institution or person.  An endowment is a financial commitment to the promise of the future.  By using a charitable gift to establish an endowment, two goals merge into one. 1) The goal that the principal will grow faster than the rate of inflation. And 2) the desire to provide an annual stream of income for the endowment's specific purpose.  The principal is never invaded.  Undistributed income - income generated over and above the annual distribution - is reinvested as part of the corpus.   This assures corpus growth, thus protecting the endowment in case of an economic downturn.

St.Marys Catholic Church - Ireland, IN

This permanent endowment supports the general use and benefits of St. Marys Catholic Church - Ireland, IN.  It was established in 2008.  The Parish Council, in consultation with the pastor, will decide how annual distributions from this endowment will be used each year.

Msgr. Carl Shetler Memorial Endowment

A permanent endowment to memorialize Monsignor Carl Shetler was established in 2006. This endowment benefits Saint Mary Parish forever as we will receive an annual distribution.  As of December 31, 2007, the value of this account was $5,228.28.

The future financial security of Saint Mary Church is built on the foundation of strong endowments.  Well managed endowments can generate income indefinitely.  Gifts of any amount and at any time may be added to either of the above endowments.  Contributions may be sent to Saint Mary Parish Office or made on-line at www.catholicfoundationswin.org.
