December 2009 Update:

The Long Term Planning Committee selected the team of Architecture+ and Arsee Engineering to perform the engineering study on the existing building currently being used for our worship space. The agreement for the engineering study has been signed by Bishop Gettelfinger. We do not have a definite date for the building evaluation to begin.

We will continue to review the resumes from Architectural firms that responded to the RFP (request for proposal). The Committee is scheduled to meet in January after the engineering study has begun. Please contact one of the members of the Long Term Planning Committee with any questions or concerns.

April 2009 Update:

Following is a summary of the Town Hall Meetings hosted on Sunday, April 26 and Wednesday, April 28. There were 161 parishioners registered in attendance at the two meetings. The Long Term Planning Committee appreciated the good discussion that ensued during the presentations.

The next steps in the process include the following:

1. Get engineering study of church

2. Hire design team

3. Develop conceptual plan including schematic drawings for Phase 1

4. Develop cost estimate for Phase 1

5. Present Plan and cost estimate to Parish and Parish Council

6. Deliver our recommendation to the Bishop

7. Move to implementation of Phase 1

Recommendation for Phase 1: Church

St Mary should expand Church seating capacity to between 1000 and 1250 and incorporate into the plans the ability to easily expand capacity further if needed. The complete presentation from these Town Hall Meetings can be found below. The Long Term Planning Committee will be meeting on a bi-monthly basis initially and more often as the project moves forward.

September 2008 Update:

The Long Term Planning Committee continues to work with the Parish Council to provide solutions for problems identified through the parish assessment. There has been a bit of work performed on the parish campus, some more visible than others. Due to the normally hot weather during our parish picnic, there was a need for ventilation in the room behind the kitchen, so two exhaust vents were installed to allow heat to escape from this room, primarily for the picnic preparation and picnic day. Safety has also been improved in this room by installing a steel pipe extension of the natural gas system. This pipe installation shortens the length of flexible gas line running through the room, again primarily used on picnic day. Throughout the Community Center Building, the gap between the window frames and the ceiling material has been closed with aluminum trim. This work was done to complete the separation between the attic space and the interior room spaces in the classrooms and the cafeteria area. Thanks for continued support as we work to improve parish facilities to allow our parish to thrive.
